This video was shot in Beacon, NY. It was part of a landscape project assignment that required me to record my surroundings. I shot the footage at the Hudson river waterfront, behind Rombout middle school, a playground in an apartment complex and the metro north train station. The train station scenes were a blast because people were getting on and off the train watching me roll this ball around on the platform. I wanted to use a smaller camera to get better movement shots and not have to be weighed down buy a heavy film camera. ( I wish I had seen the Go pro camera before this.) I had two assistants kick the ball from person to person in short spurts while I panned the camera. We did this over 200 times. To get the closer angles that I wanted I spent a lot of time on the ground moving on a skateboard. I shot at 30 fps using a Sony Handicam, and edited on Final Cut Pro. I used some random music from GarageBand that sounded like movement music which I thought was perfect.
Oh, and the two children that were in the video....more difficult to direct than the ball. Seriously! I shot them on the same day it took 4 hours. No joke. Good thing we are related.
